Way back
when dinosaurs and British Motorcycles ruled the earth- Mike
'Jeff' Jeffery was being raised and educated in North London.
From a
musical family, at an early age Jeff remembered his fathers
advice:- "If you can play the piano - You'll never have
to buy a pint".
Spurred
on by the desire for fame and alcohol he studied the classics,
however, he was soon to discover that nobody gave pints for
Chopin, but with a guitar and half a dozen chords, he could
play most of the hits in the top twenty. After
standing in on bass, and then rhythm in a few bands, Jeff
formed his own group with Roger Cover on bass and himself
on lead/rhythm called 'The Rapids'. This was the start of
a tough five year apprenticeship, (Rock n' Roll audiences
were hard to please then) but with a repertoire of powerful
Rock n' Roll standards 'The Rapids' soon had a large and faithful
following (many of whom still follow The Flames today). |
