Jeff Jeffery: Rhythm Guitarist

Way back when dinosaurs and British Motorcycles ruled the earth- Mike 'Jeff' Jeffery was being raised and educated in North London.

From a musical family, at an early age Jeff remembered his fathers advice:- "If you can play the piano - You'll never have to buy a pint".

Spurred on by the desire for fame and alcohol he studied the classics, however, he was soon to discover that nobody gave pints for Chopin, but with a guitar and half a dozen chords, he could play most of the hits in the top twenty.

After standing in on bass, and then rhythm in a few bands, Jeff formed his own group with Roger Cover on bass and himself on lead/rhythm called 'The Rapids'. This was the start of a tough five year apprenticeship, (Rock n' Roll audiences were hard to please then) but with a repertoire of powerful Rock n' Roll standards 'The Rapids' soon had a large and faithful following (many of whom still follow The Flames today).

When Roger Cover left to form 'The Dynamite Band', Jeff was kept busy in various rock bands adding his unique vocal style to a lot of session work. After a period of two years, Jeff was asked to join 'The Dynamite Band' with guitarist Dick Callan and after the purchase of a 40 seater coach (a bank loan and a conversion) played many gigs in England and Europe. When Dick Callan left to join 'Matchbox', Jeff was introduced to Ian-'Houndog' Terry, and soon the pair of them left to form a group with ex-'Motorhead' drummer Lucas Fox, called 'Breaker One Nine'. Technically this band had all the ingredients for commercial success- but disillusioned with playing 'prestige' venues and chasing the 'right' recording contracts Jeff proved the adage "Rock n' Roll takes its toll" and left the band.

Apart from playing specific fun gigs, Jeff settled down to 'Musical retirement'.In February 1988 however, Jeff had a call from Roger Cover to meet John Burleigh, and the basis of 'The Flames' was formed. After 3 months rehearsal Jeff Tuck was persuaded to be the permanent drummer. The groups first engagement was at the Riviera center Torquay as support band to 'The Crickets'.

Jeff feels his music career has now reached a new high, and has renewed enthusiasm for the bands future.
