After three years he decided to move on to another rockabilly group, and in 1984 he joined 'Cat-Talk'. In the remaining two years of the band, he went on to perform a west end stage musical of the 'Lambusters', directed by actor Kevin Williams, meeting and performing to the likes of Rik Mayall, Ade Edmundson and Julie Walters, and not forgetting Phil Cool to name but a few! Finally in 1986 when the group folded, a phone call from the legendary Ian 'Houndog' terry asked him to audition for a group called 'Clives Jive Five', featuring sax player and vocalist Clive Osbourne. He got the job and went to perform up and down the country and across Europe. He also recorded his first album with a band entitled simply; 'Clives Jive Five'. Again personal differences and mismanagement's meant that they disbanded. In 1987 he teamed up with actor Kevin William's again to work on a new idea of comedy and cabaret and all round good entertainment. A proposal for a channel 4 pilot comedy show was set up, but unfortunately it didn't come off. Jeff had been approached by Roger Cover of 'The Flames', to stand in for a couple of gigs as they had lost their original drummer. he agreed, but only on a temporary basis, as he was busy working on other projects. In 1988 he did a T.V. appearance on the 'Paradise Club' with a band called 'The Junction', and after no follow up work, decided to take up Rogers offer, and so joined 'The Flames' as a permanent member. Throughout his drumming career he has backed and worked with many Rock n' Roll greats such as Johnny Powers, Gerry Burns, Freddy Fingers Lee, Charlie Gracie, Sonny Burgess etc... His favorite music is Jazz, Rock n' Rolland blues, having been fortunate enough to meet his idol, Buddy Rich on three occasions, and also meeting Brian Bennett (Shadows) and Charlie Watts (Rolling Stones). Jeff says of 'The Flames'; "I've never really looked back, it's great to work with real experienced musicians who understand the business throughout". Thirteen years later he has established himself; not only as a great drummer, but solely as one "Red-Hot Flame", that will go on burning ......FOREVER. |
